DJ Lady Lea is one of South Africa’s most respected and enduring female DJs, known for her exceptional skill, industry leadership and unwavering contribution to the country’s music landscape. With a career that began at just 14 years old, she has spent more than 17 years performing across the world at clubs, raves, festivals, fashion shows, corporate events, parades and sports stadiums. Her ability to command any dancefloor—whether behind CDJs, vinyl decks or digital setups—has earned her recognition as South Africa’s top female DJ and a global ranking of #368 in the DJ Mag international poll.
Lady Lea is not only a DJ but a pioneer. In 1999, she opened Flipside Records in Pretoria, a record shop that quickly gained traction within the local DJ and music community. She expanded it into a recording studio and full record label—Flipside Recordings—where she began producing her own tracks and albums. Her international career includes spinning in top UK clubs and working for the world-renowned HMV music store as a singles and vinyl buyer.

Lady Lea, now playing on CD players, vinyl and laptop, started DJ’ing at the age of 14 years old. Since then, she has been DJ’ing around the world at various clubs, parties, raves, corporate events, fashion shows, festivals, parades and sports games.
She is now rated as the top female DJ in South Africa and she is currently rated # 368 in the world by the international DJ Mag voting poll.
One of her dreams is to inspire people to do what they are passionate about and in 2009, Lady Lea launched a female DJ agency called Divas on Decks, which main aims are to promote young, up and coming female DJ’s in a big way; to help them grow as artists and to assist them to reach their full potential and dreams. Originally, Lady Lea was part of a group with 3 female DJ’s called Divas on Decks.
It turned out that Lady Lea was the only one left who was still DJ’ing full time so she decided to revive the brand and to start the Divas on Deck agency which currently represents some of the most popular national and international female DJ’s.

Speaker fees can vary depending on factors such as expertise, demand, and event specifics. While some speakers may charge a flat fee for their services, others may have hourly rates. It’s best to discuss fee structures directly with the speaker or their representative to understand the pricing model.
Virtual speaking appearances can indeed offer cost savings compared to in-person events. Virtual speaking rates are often 10-50% cheaper than in-person rates due to factors such as reduced travel expenses and logistics. This makes virtual events a cost-effective alternative for organizations looking to book speakers within a budget.
Keynote speeches typically range from 30 to 90 minutes, with the duration determined by the speaker’s expertise, the event’s agenda, and audience preferences. Keynote speeches often include a combination of inspirational stories, practical insights, and actionable advice tailored to the event’s theme or objectives.
The scale of the event and audience size can indeed impact a speaker’s fee. Larger events with a broader reach or higher attendance may command higher fees due to increased exposure and demand. Conversely, smaller events or niche audiences may offer opportunities for more flexible pricing arrangements.
Travel expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and meals are typically negotiated separately from the speaker’s fee. These costs vary depending on the speaker’s location, travel distance, and event duration. It’s important to clarify travel arrangements and expenses during the booking process to avoid misunderstandings.
Many speakers require a deposit to secure a booking, with the remaining balance due closer to the event date. Deposits are often non-refundable and serve as a commitment from both parties. It’s advisable to discuss deposit requirements and payment terms with the speaker or their representative when finalizing the booking.
