The Morning After (TMA) is a dynamic three-piece band formed by lifelong friends Dirk, Gerhard, and Shannon, whose musical partnership spans more than two decades. Although they officially established the band in 2008, their creative chemistry began in the late 1990s and continues to shape the authenticity and cohesion of their performances today. Based in Gauteng, they have become one of South Africa’s most in-demand live acts, performing over 150 shows annually for a wide range of clients, from intimate private celebrations to major corporate events. Their reputation for reliability, professionalism, and crowd-pleasing performance has earned them repeat bookings from leading South African companies as well as international organisations.
Known for their exceptional versatility, The Morning After adapts effortlessly to any atmosphere or event format. This flexibility allows them to tailor each performance to the mood of the moment while maintaining a consistently polished sound. Their set lists are carefully curated, blending contemporary hits, classics, and singalong favourites, all delivered with strong musicianship and a warm on-stage presence that builds instant rapport with audiences.
Comprised of a dynamic trio of musicians; three best mates Dirk, Gerhard and Shannon have been making music together on-and-off since 1998 before officially starting THE MORNING AFTER (also known as TMA) in 2008.
The guys didn’t so much choose the name “THE MORNING AFTER” as have it given to them by some of their initial fans having regularly partied too much the night before. The name just stuck after that and TMA have been living up to their name ever since! Just ask anyone who’ve ever seen them live!
The Morning After has since become South Africa’s premier party function band. With an average of 150 gigs per year across the country these guys specialize in unforgettable live entertainment from weddings and corporate events to festivals, birthdays and house parties.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, corporate event, or any special occasion, TMA will keep your guests dancing all night long. With their diverse repertoire of music spanning multiple genres and decades, they know how to get the party started and keep it going.
What truly sets The Morning After apart is their remarkable versatility. Whether it’s a laid-back acoustic set, elegant cocktail hour, full-on party mode, or seamless late-night DJ integration, they adapt flawlessly to the moment. Their carefully crafted set lists and warm connection with audiences deliver a live experience that’s both refined and spontaneous.
With one mission in mind — to get everyone on the dance floor — they captivate crowds and create unforgettable moments.
