Uveka Rangappa is a renowned South African journalist, news anchor, TV presenter and philanthropist.
She started her broadcasting career in 1996 with the SABC at Lotus FM. After 5 years, she then moved to East Coast Radio, before leaving Durban entirely to seek greener pastures in Johannesburg.
In 2002 she joined Primedia Broadcasting, where she worked at 702 and 947.
Establishing herself in television, as a force to be reckoned with, she presented ‘Rights and Recourse’ on SABC 3, and later joined the then eNews Channel (now eNCA) as a weekday News Anchor.
While still on 702 and 947, Uveka went on to host the parenting show ‘Great Expectations’ on eTV from 2011 to 2016. During that time, she returned to eNCA as a prime time anchor and host of ‘Food Matters’ as well as ‘Health Matters’. She also held the title of programming and content manager at SRN Media.
Among the highlights of her 25-year career, Uveka includes having covered post-war Iraq and reporting from in and around Baghdad. Other highlights have been covering national elections, interviewing
several local and international celebrities like Stevie Wonder, local and international politicians including former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ambassadors and High Commissioners, but her favourite interviews have been with ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Apart from being an established television and radio anchor, Uveka Rangappa is an active philanthropist and passionately supports the Rise Against Hunger charity organisation which distributes food to ECD centres and University students across South Africa.
Uveka believes journalism is “not about ME…it’s about who I can help!”
