Sean Brokensha is a South African music historian, media professional and motivational speaker whose career spans radio, television and live entertainment dating back to the mid 1980s. As a writer, producer and director, he has contributed to programming for major international networks including the BBC and CBS, as well as all leading local broadcasters. Over the past two decades he has become a familiar voice and on-screen presence through his music-focused radio and television shows on SAFM, Cape Talk, Mnet Mzansi and ETV.
Sean is widely recognised for his long-running Musicguru feature on Talk Radio 702, a platform he has held since 1999. His signature approach blends musicology, cultural analysis and personal narrative, weaving together history, media and lived experience in pre- and post-1994 South Africa. This layered style enables audiences to see familiar songs and eras through a new lens, often revealing powerful emotional and social connections.
