Krijay Govender is a South African actress, stand-up comedian, and master of ceremonies with a career that spans television, live comedy, and high-profile corporate events. She is widely recognised for her roles on South African television, including publisher Jenna in Generations and Hemali, a legal aid attorney, in Isidingo.
Krijay’s entertainment journey began early. She started performing stand-up comedy in 1993 and made a notable breakthrough on the national comedy circuit in 2001. Her profile rose significantly after a standout performance on the SABC2 women’s talk show Motswako: The Mix, after which she became a regular performer alongside established comedians such as Barry Hilton.
In addition to her comedy and acting career, Krijay has an impressive academic background. She holds a BA Arts degree from the University of Natal, where she majored in politics and drama, and went on to complete master’s degrees in both fields. She later expanded her professional skill set by completing a Media Management and Arts Administration course at the same institution.

Krijay Govender is also a former Miss India SA (1994) and was runner-up in Miss India Worldwide (New York, USA 1996).
She won three of the four special awards: Most Talented, Miss Congeniality and Miss Beautiful Smile. Govender graduated with a BA Arts from the University of Natal in 1997. She majored in politics and drama, achieving a Masters degree for both.
In 1998 she took a Media Management & Arts Admin course, also at the University of Natal.
She began working as a stand-up comic in 1993, but first made an impression on the South African comedy circuit in 2001.
