Event DJ and corporate entertainment specialist
Corporate event planners, private clients, entertainment venues and brands seeking dynamic, crowd responsive music experiences.
DJ Michael Zuma is a seasoned South African DJ whose career began in high school and evolved into a 15 year professional journey shaped by passion, discipline and a deep understanding of audience dynamics. His love of music led him to East Coast Radio, where he serves as a senior creative engineer while continuing to perform at events across the country.
Michael’s approach to entertainment goes well beyond mixing great tracks. He believes that every audience deserves a customised musical experience and he is committed to reading the room, taking requests and adapting in real time rather than relying on preset playlists. This flexibility, paired with a broad music knowledge ranging from the 1970s through today’s biggest genres, allows him to create unforgettable atmospheres for any event.
He has performed at major corporate functions for brands such as Unilever, Coca Cola, Vodacom, SAB, ACSA and Tsogo Sun, and has shared stages with well known personalities including Oskido, DJ Fresh, Cleo, Siyanda and Gareth Cliff. Whether in clubs, corporate events or private celebrations, Michael brings professionalism, energy and a people first mindset. For him, DJing is never about the DJ. It is always about the crowd and creating a moment they will remember.
DJ Michael Zuma career as a Disc Jockey began in the later years of high school (time flies when you’re having fun !), initially as just a hobby, but it grew through years of hard work, dedication, and application into a passion.
My interest in music has lead me to follow my interest in music through to assume the title of senior creative engineer at East Coast Radio.
My understanding of entertaining reaches far beyond playing a good mix of music. When one is commissioned to cater for an audience, it is imperative that I play specifically to the expectation of all people attending. Even though I may have the experience of 15 years, I gladly welcome and endeavour to play all requested songs and I do not have a set playlist.
Working in the industry of music radio my personal music taste ranges from the 1970s to the hits of today across all genres including rock n roll, 80s, local music, house, hip-hop and R’B, with a diverse music collection to match.
Having played in clubs and corporate events for companies such as Unilever, Rainbow Chickens, Coca-Cola, Vodacom, SAB, ACSA and Tsogo Sun. DJ Michael Zuma has worked alongside celebrity personalities such as DJs Oskido, Siyanda, Cleo, Fresh and most recently ‘the opposition’ Gareth Cliff.
To this day the single best part of being a DJ is knowing that I am satisfying the individuals attending. It’s never about me. It’s about you.

Speaker fees can vary depending on factors such as expertise, demand, and event specifics. While some speakers may charge a flat fee for their services, others may have hourly rates. It’s best to discuss fee structures directly with the speaker or their representative to understand the pricing model.
Virtual speaking appearances can indeed offer cost savings compared to in-person events. Virtual speaking rates are often 10-50% cheaper than in-person rates due to factors such as reduced travel expenses and logistics. This makes virtual events a cost-effective alternative for organizations looking to book speakers within a budget.
Keynote speeches typically range from 30 to 90 minutes, with the duration determined by the speaker’s expertise, the event’s agenda, and audience preferences. Keynote speeches often include a combination of inspirational stories, practical insights, and actionable advice tailored to the event’s theme or objectives.
The scale of the event and audience size can indeed impact a speaker’s fee. Larger events with a broader reach or higher attendance may command higher fees due to increased exposure and demand. Conversely, smaller events or niche audiences may offer opportunities for more flexible pricing arrangements.
Travel expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and meals are typically negotiated separately from the speaker’s fee. These costs vary depending on the speaker’s location, travel distance, and event duration. It’s important to clarify travel arrangements and expenses during the booking process to avoid misunderstandings.
Many speakers require a deposit to secure a booking, with the remaining balance due closer to the event date. Deposits are often non-refundable and serve as a commitment from both parties. It’s advisable to discuss deposit requirements and payment terms with the speaker or their representative when finalizing the booking.
