This 8m56s interview features actor Vuyo Dabula in a lively, engaging exchange with presenter Andile Ncube. Vuyo reflects on his early years, describing the moment he first realised the responsibility of being the family breadwinner and how that pressure fuelled his hunger for success. Andile recalls first seeing him on Yizo Yizo, sparking a discussion about their shared history at AFDA and Vuyo’s first major break. Vuyo explains that although he briefly left AFDA for Mafikeng, the school later called him back to audition for a film. After an unusually long audition process spanning a month, he landed the role, coincidentally playing a character also named Vuyo.

Andile highlights how Vuyo’s character is a villain loved by audiences, prompting Vuyo to laugh about possibly bringing a “sexy” edge to evil. He emphasises that audience members often approach him to compliment not only his look and physical discipline but more importantly his craft. Vuyo shares that since starting Generations he has trained nearly every day, pushing through an intensive seven-day workout routine to maintain the physicality required for his roles.
