Pete Goffe-Wood is one of South Africa’s most recognisable and respected culinary figures, known for his bold, creative approach to food and his commitment to transforming the local restaurant landscape. A MasterChef South Africa judge, author, consultant, and long-standing industry mentor, Pete has built a career defined by craftsmanship, innovation, and unwavering standards.
As chairperson of the Western Cape Chapter of the South African Chefs Association, he advocates for the professionalization of the culinary sector and mentors emerging chefs. He lectures in Operational Management at the Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch, contributing directly to next-generation talent development.
A passionate supporter of the Slow Food movement, Pete also writes extensively as former food editor for GQ and monthly columnist for Hospitality magazine. His book, Blues – Essence of Cape Town, celebrates an iconic local dining institution and reinforces his role as a storyteller of South African culinary identity.
