Comics Choice Award nominee Monique Nortje finished her BA Drama degree at the University of Pretoria in 2000.
She is an accomplished stand-up comedienne, having performed in big theatre shows such as ‘Bitches’ (2013), ‘Rocken Skerp’ (Aardklop 2013) and Comics Choice Awards Winners Lap (2012).
She has also done stand-up comedy at many corporate events including the 5th Annual Leadership for Women in Law Enforcement Conference, the 2013 Leadership for Women in Government Conference and the 2013 Women Empowerment & Gender Equality Conference for the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation.
Monique Nortje has been performing with improvised comedy teams; ‘Improv Express’ (Joe Parker), ‘Starship Improvise’ (Chris Forrest) and ‘Live Wire Improv’ (Al Prodgers) since 2005.
Monique is also a voice-over artist and she has been on writing teams for and performed in comedy television shows such as ‘Kompleks’ (writer / performer), ‘The Coconuts’ (assistant head writer/assistant director/performer), ‘Parys Parys’ (writer) and ‘Kota Life Crisis’ (writer).
Monique Nortje was recently seen in the Afrikaans musical film, ‘Liefling’ and she also writes and directs educational, industrial and corporate theatre.
While she tirelessly toils on her next television endeavour, you can catch her amazing and disconcerting audiences at various improvised and stand-up comedy gigs at venues across the country.
